This is another old part of town. The area includes neighborhoods such as Clarksville, Tarrytown, Old Enfield and Highland Park. West Central Austin is known for its historic homes, oak-lined streets and cozy neighborhoods. Homes range from two-bedroom bungalows to multi-million-dollar properties located along the shores of lake Austin. This area is still in the heart of it all but less busy than South Austin, quieter. You’ll see fewer “events” happening here and it’s less touristy. But that doesn’t mean it lacks activities. Deep Eddy Pool is here, which is equally as cold as Barton Springs but can be less crowded. There are lots of great restaurants and coffee shops as well.
